Nightwave

Nightwave is probably one of the most important free sources to get Orokin Reactors and Catalysts. Every week, you have a series of challenges to complete, and by progressing through the ranks you get various rewards. You can also get Nightwave Credits, which then allow you to buy certain items in the associated store. If you want to accumulate this type of resource without breaking the bank, you must clearly get into the habit of doing a maximum of Nightwave challenges every week.

The Sortie

The Sortie can also give you Orokin Reactor and Orokin Catalyst blueprints. It's a series of three daily missions with modifiers, so it's not necessarily the easiest content for a brand new player, but once you have the level to do it, you should clearly do it every day. The reward drops at the end of the three missions, and among the possible drops are precisely the Reactor and Catalyst blueprints. It is not guaranteed, so don't count on it as a fixed source, but it's one of those regular pleasant surprises that can clearly relieve your stock.

The Archon Hunt

The Archon Hunt can also give them to you. Once again, this is not a constant source nor a farm you can repeat indefinitely, but it remains an excellent opportunity to take when you have access to it and it should be done every week. In addition to the Archon Shard, its drop table can contain Orokin Reactor and Orokin Catalyst blueprints. You unlock this after the Veil Breaking quest.

Duviri at Acrithis

After unlocking the Duviri Intrinsics level that gives you access to Acrithis's store, she can outright sell Orokin Reactors and Orokin Catalysts in her rotation. This is probably one of the cleanest methods when you have access to this content, because here you don't depend on a lucky drop: you simply check her store, and if the item is present, you buy it.

In exchange, you must have the resources requested by Duviri, notably Pathos Clamps for this type of purchase. This is not necessarily the very first farm a new player will go for, but it remains a very interesting source to know if you play this content regularly. And since the arrival of Oraxia, getting Pathos Clamps has become much less tedious than before.

Invasions

Now, this is clearly the method I like the least, but there are also Invasions, which can sometimes give Orokin Reactors or Orokin Catalysts as a reward. The problem is that it is neither frequent nor particularly pleasant to wait for, because you completely depend on the current rotation. When the reward is there, you have to do the required missions on the chosen side, then wait for the invasion to end to collect your payout. Therefore, this is not a method you will build your entire management on, but it remains one more free source to know and monitor from time to time.

Tactical Alerts

Digital Extremes regularly adds temporary alerts with very interesting rewards, and Reactors or Catalysts can be part of them. These are often simple missions, available for a limited time, that you just need to remember to monitor. The real trap here is not the difficulty, it's mostly forgetting to check the Navigation. Many players miss out simply because they didn't look at the right time.

Warframe's recurring events

Certain recurring Warframe events also allow you to get this kind of reward, or at least get your hands on very useful resources that ease the pressure on your Platinum needs. Between annual events, special periods, and certain operations, there are regularly opportunities to seize. This is not necessarily a constant method all year round, but it's a source you should know and monitor, especially if you play long-term.

The best way to get them regularly, and especially when you really need them, is quite simply to buy them in the Orbiter market for 20 Platinum. Put that way, some will wince, but in reality it's often the cleanest, fastest, and most realistic solution in the long run. Free methods exist, they are great, you have to do them, but they won't be enough to cover all your needs if you start liking to test a lot of weapons, Warframes, and builds.
